Description
Graphics – Carousel Flytrap
Dreamlike print on canvas, framed in a golden wooden frame with a graphite passe-partout. The aesthetic resembles an antique engraving torn from an old book – mysterious, symbolic, and refined in detail.
Psychedelic symbolism and vision
The Carousel Flytrap was created using a mixed technique combining drawing, painting, and the artist’s own unique approach. The original work was transferred onto canvas, preserving its delicate texture and atmosphere. Przemysław Lubczak, the creator of the series inspired by psilocybin mushrooms and red toadstools, infuses each piece with emotional precision and surreal power.
The mushroom as a metaphor
The fly agaric (Amanita muscaria) is not only a visual icon of psychedelia, but also a powerful symbol. In Carousel Flytrap, it becomes a mysterious carousel of consciousness – playful, hypnotic, and dangerous. Just as mushrooms can open the mind, they can also challenge the psyche. The print invites reflection on the duality of transformation and risk in psychedelic experiences.
A dance of meaning
The graphic alludes to the concept of the danse macabre – a medieval allegory of death. The mushroom spins in a hypnotic circle, playing both a guide and a trickster. The viewer is pulled into its rhythm, unsure whether to laugh, contemplate, or tremble. It's a powerful metaphor for inner journeys and the complexity of altered states.
